Clay Sculpture - St. Croix River Turtles (Copy)

This is an introduction to ceramic sculpture and our subject will be St. Croix River Turtles. The St. Croix and Namekagon rivers are home to eight species of turtles, which you can often see basking on rocks, logs, and along the shores. Join us for a two-part workshop where we will explore the turtles that inhabit the St. Croix River Valley and use that knowledge to create beautiful ceramic sculptures.

November 15th: Learn about the different species and choose one to recreate in clay.

November 22nd: Open Studio hours to continue working on sculpture.

November 29th: Firing

December 6th: Glaze or paint your sculpture.

Final Pick-up: Scheduled independently after glaze firing.

  • Snapping Turtle
  • Painted Turtle
  • Spiny Softshell Turtle
  • Common Map Turtle
  • False Map Turtle
  • Smooth Softshell

EARLY BIRD Registration: $100/artist + $40 Material Fee [register before Sept. 1 at 5:00 pm]

Registration after Sept 1: $125/artist + $40 Materials Fee

Age & Skill Level: 16 + and All skill levels welcome (some clay experience preferred)
