Join us in the studio to create a vibrant tribute to your favorite tree and its life-giving qualities. Each student is encouraged to bring a series of photographs of their favorite tree and its location. Be prepared to share memories or stories associated with the tree in a group discussion and through your artwork. Together, we will explore the various life forms that depend on that tree and its role in the ecosystem. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a family tree that includes your personal lineage!
Afterward, students will work alongside artist Carrie Katzenmeyer to sketch and plan their paintings. Then, they will follow the steps to complete and share their final pieces.

About Carrie Katzenmeyer (Carrie Kat) - https://www.carriekat.com
Carrie is an excellent teacher with a kind and gentle approach. Her work is whimsical and inspired by nature, drawing from her indigenous and Scandinavian heritages. She explores themes of connection—not only among people but also with animals and the environment. Her art creates a safe space for viewers to begin their own stories and interpretations. At a deeper level, she focuses on color theory, as well as the stories and myths passed down through her cultural background, along with her personal experiences and memories.
Carrie graduated with an Art Degree from the University of Minnesota and currently resides in Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota.
