What is Soft sculpture? A great 3D art form using flexible materials like fabric, foam, felt, or rubber, rather than traditional hard materials like stone or metal. Pioneered by artists like local favorite Claes Oldenburg in the 1960s, whose works often featured everyday objects, rendered in a soft, sagging, or stuffed manner. Claes was responsible for the beloved Spoonbridge and Cherry in the Walker Sculpture Garden.
Common techniques include sewing, stuffing, draping, and weaving.
