Acrylic Montage Painting

  • White Bear Center for the Arts 4971 Long Avenue White Bear Lake, Minnesota, 55110 United States (map)

Join artist and naturalist Jessica Turtle to explore visual storytelling through Montage Painting—a style that weaves together personal narratives, research, symbolism, color theory, and visual communication to create meaningful artwork.

Montage paintings traditionally combine a variety of images and elements—whether closely connected or wildly unexpected—into a single, theme-driven artwork. This process reveals new stories, invites deeper exploration of a subject, and sparks creative meaning-making.

Whether you’re drawn to visual memoir, intrigued by symbiotic ecology, or excited to experiment with bold visual juxtapositions, this workshop offers a supportive space to ignite your creativity and expand your artistic horizons.

This workshop encourages you to use materials you enjoy most. Your final artwork should be at least 22" x 30" and can be created on any surface you like—canvas, paper, or wood panel. Kits are also available for those interested in learning Jessica’s technique with fluid acrylics on paper.
